Visa requirements for international students

Students from the European Union (including Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) do not require a Student Visa to study in Germany.

Students from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Japan, and South Korea also do not require a visa to study here, however, you will need to register at the local Residents’ Registration Office and the Aliens’ Registration Office within two weeks of your arrival in Berlin.

Students from countries not listed above must apply for a German Student Visa to study long-term in Germany (longer than 90 days). Visit our International Student Visa page to see the simple steps you need to take to apply for your visa, and the help and support we offer you to make sure your visa application and relocation plans run smoothly.

Sarah Bejkar - Arden University Berlin graduate

I am an Arden University Berlin alumni and became a Student Support Officer at Arden Berlin in 2019. I came to Germany in 2018 to study for an MSc Data Analytics and Marketing at the Berlin campus. My experiences with the Student Support team were so positive that I decided to join the team after my graduation!
